The VR system allows the use of slow shutter speeds in dimmer conditions. It allows handheld supertelephoto zoom shooting at dusk, at night, and even in poorly lit interiors.
	AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G IF-ED When used with a D-series Digital SLR, it operates as a 300-600mm supertelephoto lens (35mm equiv.) to combine the function of four fixed focal length supertelephoto lenses into a single unit, and focal length of up to 1200mm is possible with the AF-S x2 teleconverter. In addition to VR (Vibration Reduction) delivering the equivalent of shooting at a shutter speed three stops (eight times) faster, users can choose from [Normal] and [Active] modes
